Very interesting

It is always nice when you notice that a person took the extra mile by putting lyrics in their music. It is great how you consistently use your great voice for the entire song. While the subject matter was about slaves, it actually seemed to have a light tone. The lyrics were still dark, but you had a very graceful tone in your voice. It seems like you are willing to submit yourself to this man. Your voice seems to have a good sense of innocence in it.

While there are sexual undertones, it's great how the main tone contrasts with that. It starts off well as it seems like a very innocent scenario. You keep the innocent music all the time in the background. Maybe this did not really have any sexual undertones in it at all. You just really create a graceful tone with your smooth voice.

Classic story!

This was really cool to listen to, because it had a really good story for it. How odd that it was for a title submission that you did not even make. The story this sets up is so good it just had to have one, didn't it? The coolest thing was how you consisently keep a creepy tone in your voice all the way through the song. It's simply a great story of the revenge that comes from a little girl. It can be compared to the cartoons made by crookedsixspence.

You emphasis your voice but at the same time you did not seem hammy. You just try to keep a tone that makes sense with the song. It's great to listen to the little beats that go on as you sing. While you have a great singing voice, it shows you went the extra mile by having good use of instruments like that. Thanks for including the lyrics in the author's comments.

Not goth!

Wow, you have one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard on Newgrounds! I am so glad this managed to get some recognition by being featured in some entries. It's not often that you come across a song with full lyrics. The most awesome part of this was that it just had a really soft feeling to it. There is no reason for you to be ashamed of being Goth if that is what inspires you to make great music like this! The use of the piano was great as well.

This is a song where the lyrics make you wonder who you are. It can be sad, but it makes you more aware of all the chaos there is in the world around you. It lies in the individual to improve himself or herself for the better to contribute to this world. This does not try to have anything fancy, just a sweet sad song. You should really look into voice work.

Seems familiar

I really liked this one because it had such a vibrant style to it. As there is so much going on here it also has a very appropriate title. This is what you think of when you are on a big drug trip and everything just seems so out of whack. I especially like the little screams that show up every now and then. It's hard to tell, but they kind of sound like "DOOM!". It's a great way to express the psychadelic nature of euphoria.

While pretty flashy, it works well at achieving what it's supposed to. The listener is in for a wild ride when he or she comes across this. It creates the feeling of descending into a tunnel or maybe through some strangely built structure. It just has so much energy it's a true roller coaster ride of a song! Don't be fooled at 1:35, it's far from over.

Nice and soft

I have been hearing some great songs lately that are really soft. While it does not have much variety, it doesn't need it because it sticks completely to what it is. I guess I could say this does have a ring of cynicism in it, if only because of the title. It really gets good when you start to have some choir singing in it. It seems like the kind of song you would want to hear at the end of the day or after you have been defeated in some way. It manages to be so effective in how subtle it is.

The best thing was how it, once again, did not at any time attempt to be flashy. It just goes to show you how much emotion you can put into a song. It might come off as depressing to some people, but it does have a good glimmer of hope. I really like how you just stick with this formula for the entire song. May peace be with you.

Completely flawless

Wow, I am almost getting to my one thousandth audio review and I think this is the best piece I have ever laid my ears on. It is amazingly soft and gentle. It appears to be done mostly with piano but also has some great reflecting tunes to it. I am so glad you were able to capture your feelings so wonderfully with this melody. Just listening to this gives me hope for the future. It is a fantastic message to the world and just makes us throw all violent and unpleasant imagery out of our heads.

This seems just as good as any professionally made music. You have done the world good by gracing this magnificent piece. It doesn't need to grab your attention with anything flashy because this is a song where there is absolutely no bullcrap at ALL. It is the nitty gritty love and joy of the world compressed into song. The only unpleasant part is when it ends so I'm glad it immediately starts up. This is the music to listen to when you feel as though you have nothing left in this world.

Probably your best

As it had "sorry" in its name I thought it was going to be something pretty depressing. It actually turned out to be one of the most light hearted songs I have heard in a long time. It doesn't make you feel sad or anything, it just makes you feel good. I imagine you could play this in the room of a sleeping infant to help it be at peace with itself. It seemed like this was mostly done with the piano. I used to play it, so I would be familiar with it.

Do not be so hard on yourself because you simply want to submit what you enjoyed working on. It certainly paid off as the ratings are fairly high. I love the little notes that dwindle on contributing to its soft appearance. It seems as though you are saying that you are slipping off to sleep. If that's what makes this great music, then by all means, do it!

Now that's hard!

The title "Asylum" made me think of insanity as that was what this was bringing on in me. Don't get me wrong, it started out very peaceful, but you knew something more extreme was going to happen. It was the lack of creepy music that made that part scary. I love at around 1:50 when you start to hear those voices. They don't seem to be even singing just moaning in a very soft way. There was stuff like rattles and pages being turned.

Then, at 2:20 it slowly begins its descent into madness. It gets louder and louder as it goes on and appeals more to the insanity of your senses. This is a true work of art given how it kept adding more creepiness as it went on. The loud stuff at 2:56 is most effective and it gets more inane from even there! Thank you for such a great audio piece.

That was unexpected

I was expecting this to sound like there was a lot of action going on or maybe a dark tone to it. I just expected that from the fact that it had "wolves" in the title. This is actually an extremely soft and soothing melody. It probably helps that I used to play the piano all the time when I was a kid. Everything was so precise here I could just imagine myself touching the keys like I used to. I can understand why this would be a favorite version of anything.

It is just such a casual song and it can be played when you're doing any mundane activity. There's no attempt to be flashy or zany, just a nitty gritty piano tune. It is also a very original style. There could be some more base sounds but it's really all you need for something done entirely on a piano. I believe that is what you did.

It is epic

This has so much going on it is a bit hard to understand what is even being said! Of course, you could say that about a lot of songs, I suppose. It is amazing how many themes this goes through in the talking and non-talking parts. You sound just like what a grunge group sounded back then. Given the fact that this was made with modern technology, it does a good job of updating it. It's a little long, but it's still a genuinely good thing to listen to.

There seem to be a lot of intermissions in this. I am going to admit right now that I am not a fan of grunge, I just never was. This, however, should please all fans of the genre. It certainly sounds like you were imitating a typical teenager with feelings of rebellion, love, and lust. I am not a fan of those themes, but you did put emotion into this.

Gunshy responds:

thanks for the review. this is an ode to teenage grunge angst, through a little bit of the '10 yrs later' lens, recalling that era. and yes, with the modern tech to make that solo guitar. i couldn't have played it on guitar if i'd tried. :)
