It's great that I finally get to look at the first submission of Madness Day 2012. What's also cool is that this actually marks the fourth year anniversary of me signing up for this website! It was total coincidence that I first came here at that time. This was interesting, because it had a really unpredictable ending. You make a good point, bigger stuff tends to be bulkier. The sounds synched up well too.

It's a pity you weren't able to use the Madness Day 2012 logo. Tom Fulp showed me that on the forums. It's funny to see that one guy at the end with stars circling his head. Better for stars to circle your head than to have your head blown off. I love how quickly he responded.

btw...today marks the fifth year anniversary of me in this site, and actuallym the real first submition of madness day 2012 was madness revistered by erixs

I thought this was a really weird cartoon, but still good. I was expecting more people to show up that were actually made of chess pieces. It still turned out to be surreal. I must not have been following closely, because there seemed to be a lot of inconsistencies, like how the main character as alone at first but then he had henchman. You really do have some morally ambiguous characters. It's great to see how far you have come.

If you get a bad grade on this, just show your teacher the score this movie got. Come on, they will have to think the way everyone else does. It's always great to have a lot of voice actors. I think the character designs were really neat, because they seemed to contrast so well. It's nice to see the same artist have such a variety of designs.

kmau responds:

More chess people will show up eventually but not all at once. I don't quite get what you mean with the henchmen. The three Madhats weren't associated with the protagonist if you thought that.
I already graduaded before uploading the movie to Newgrounds but don't worry, I received a good grade. :P

I think this was probably one of your least good submissions, but it's still well done. It's mostly because you spend so much using art shifts. I couldn't help but think this was done as part of a contest or something. It seemed so random, it was like it was part of making a cartoon in only 24 hours or something. It seems like a lot of my favorite artists are making popular short things nowadays. The voices were really cool too.

It's great because you have no idea what's going to happen next. Heck, you have no idea what's going on RIGHT NOW. This is an insane cartoon that's worth checking out. It was even insane by your standards, and you've done some wild stuff. It always helps to experiment!

Sexual-Lobster responds:

this review started off harsh, but ended on a positive note. it was more focused than your usual stream of consciousness material.

i give it 3/5.

ps what's an art shift?

cheers ericho.

This was one of your wackiest cartoons, but also one of your best! It's not often that a cartoon manages to win all three main awards! I think the best part about this is how you have no idea what's going to to happen next. I just happen to be watching an episode of "Futurama" that's also about eggs being fertilized. What a coincidence! Anything is cool when you put Tie Fighters in it.

I guess the sperm was black to represent Darth Vader. I shouldn't have thought that was racist at first. There's just so many cool things going on. It's also a pretty big divergence from what you usually draw. I didn't expect nothing but the best for the greatest submission of all time! Seriously, it's the highest rated thing right now.

captainmcross responds:

Thanks! These days I've been working in a stream-of-consciousness style, just doodling as I go, and it is yielding some extreme wackiness...

While this was too short, it was still a great cartoon. The best part of it was probably how good the character designs were. I didn't even notice at first that many of them weren't even yours! I guess it shows how many times these characters have been used and imitated. I love how they have yellow blood. Yes, that's from the original series, but it looks great here.

I like how there's such a wide variety of colors too. It really contrasts well with the black and white. The sound effects are as good as any Madness cartoon. The effects and animation are as good as ever. I was rooting for them to kill that guy at the beginning.

Gibb50 responds:

What a well thought out review
I thank you from that special place in my grey Madness heart

I was surprised and possibly and a bit confused by this. Recursion has always been an interesting topic for me to explore. I think you may have made an error or two in understanding its true purpose, but who cares? What matters is that the animation is great. What's also weird is how you really find yourself rooting for the guy here. There's no dialogue, just great animation.

I'm surprised this didn't get a higher award. In the past couple of days, the Daily Feature winners have gotten pretty low scores in comparison to other times. Even the logo is done in a pretty cool way! So that's what an an all nigher is like. I hope I never have to pull one of those.

Pyrowman responds:

If by 'errors' you mean the part where they stack on top of eachother, it was fully intentional. I wanted to confuse the viewer by bending the rules I made, just when they get comfortable with it.

Thanks for your splendid review!

I admit that this was at least better than some of the other stuff you've worked on. I think it appealed to me somewhat because it's a funny image. I still can't help but feel this would work a lot better on a certain other website. I hope you know what it is. I like how silly this robot looks. I think the coolest things about it might be how it looks like it has marshmellows on its body. I don't know enough about robotics to know what that is.

Hey, congradulations on Underdog Of The Week! With the high score, you really deserved it! I liked how that's a prize that isn't really positive or negative. It's kind of funny to see that guy just dance around for no reason. I hope you had a great Robot Day.

Punisher responds:

I hate you so much.

I thought that was fairly funny. I always noticed that it seemed strange that Sakura was running around in those clothes. I honestly don't think there's ever been a character who had more panty shots than her. You'd think Chun-Li would be the more fanservicey character. Of course, Cammy could also qualify. This seems more like something Randy-Solem would make.

BTW, may that wonderful man rest in peace. Of course, as your name says, you are a bigger fan of Street Fighter than most other things. I guess most people were just expecting your next work to be in the Zelda Misadventures series. Those are better than those. I don't even remember SSII: The Satire Edition.

VicHD responds:

Nah, Randy (R.I.P) was more into toilet humor, believe me. As for Sakura, despite her being an easy target for this kind of joke, I have to say that she is my personal favorite of the Street Fighter girls.

on a side note, haven't you noticed how CAPCOM has frequently perved on most of their female characters over the years from Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil and even in Mega Man? it makes you wonder...

I am one of the most prolific reviewers on this website and even on the Internet! I am proud to be such a huge fan of this website!
