This was pretty nice

I was very much impressed by the animation in this, especially with the giant squid. I thought it was funny how the simplicity of the pirates' design contrasted with the squid's. It was an unexpected ending, as they easily lost and got blown up. I guess that was the only punchline as it didn't seem to have much else in terms of humor. This works fine as being a combination of humor and action. I also like how the mouse clicker is turned into a pirate sword and the music at the end.

Thanks for your review/points! Glad you liked it :) Im planning on remaking this. . . some day, I made this 2 years ago, and I have really improved since then, stay tuned :)

Awesome stuff!

I am not that familiar with your work, but this is probably one of the better things you have made! It helps that the song is just so cute and funny (which is what it attempts to be). You really know how to give pixellated characters a lot of depth. The way they move really indicates that they are getting in touch with their environment well, even if it isn't all that detailed. I think the funniest part was probably when Erica inflated her chest to show where the air was. All I can say now is that I wish you a very happy new year!

Mutteo responds:

Very well said. This is exactly what I try to do to sprites, give them "depth" While it took a lot of custom sprites, it really gave the characters a complete feel. I imagine if anybody else would do this song with video game characters, they probably would have just had them standing there talking, and that is boring.

I personally find sprite movies fascinating and boring at the same time. It's all about presentation. When a sprite movie is well made like Super Mario Bros Z, I favor sprites more than anything.

And a Happy New Year to you as well! =3

It's a good collab

I thought this was a pretty interesting cartoon to watch, even if it didn't have the best moments. It was interesting how it didn't focus primarly on humor or action but a mixture of both. My favorite animation was probably done by Osuka. I was half expecting a Disney joke to be made due to the fact that this reminds me of the Disney collab and they own Marvel now. It was interesting as always to see the different kinds of styles and animations you guys made. I am in fact a big Marvel fan.

Thank you. . . I seriously need to label that this isn't just comedy based, because I think people are getting confused.

Surprisingly great!

I am glad I was able to view this and I was quite impressed by the animation! The story may have been a little hard to follow, but that wasn't even the main theme to me. I think my favorite part may have been at the beginning with the guy jumping around like he was in Super Mario World or something. The animation with the snow and Santa Claus is at his best. I couldn't quite hear the Mario related themes, as it was a lot more Christmas like. I am very glad you made this and hope you had a great holiday season and a happy new year!

SimonG responds:

Thanks dude! :D
Happy holidays and new year!

Happy new year to you too

As I have just come home from the holiday season, I am glad to see this truly great animation! I was impressed at how well the flashes were introduced and shown. Being the #1 favoriter on this website, I certainly recognized a ton of these. Even if you didn't really make any original material, you really showed off a great sense of our history. I completely admired the little montage and the pictures at the end were pretty cool as well. It has been a great year as nearly every other, and I'm glad to be a big part of it with all of my reviews.

poprock responds:

Thanks Eric. 1800++ reviews... when do you have the time?? You rock man. I like your impressions on youtube too. You should do some voice acting on NG.

More well known

It's nice that I am becoming more well known with this series and can appreciate the work put into it. That being said, this was waaaay better than the previous installment because it was longer (among other things). While not the best movie I have ever seen, it does a good job of capturing the spirit of adventure. It's cool to see all of these characters in one place to see how well they fit into the story. The battle scenes seem to be getting older and are more enjoyable. It is kind of strange how you can't skip through the dialogue, though.

MaxR responds:

Thank you for your feedback! In the next chapter, I started to put controls to help with that :)

Not the most original

This wasn't the most original thing I have seen, as this has been done before. I still have to give you props on creating some good animation. I couldn't quite understand it well, as at first I thought it was a game and I was supposed to shoot the duck. I can see that this is your first flash, so I should probably go easy on you. Next time, you should make it a little longer with some better sound effects. With better jokes using this kind of animation, I am sure you could do better.

CaptainJohnny responds:

yeah i feel the same way abot the length. its an old NES game i was making fun of so those are the sounds from the actual game. thanks for the critisism

45 minutes?

It would have been cool if it was 45 minutes, as that would have set a new record for longest animation on Newgrounds! Anyway, I was very impressed and loved every second of this! It was kind of weird, especially in the beginning, but it all made up for it later! I especially love the character Lucy and how delicate and amazingly nice she is. The relationship with her father can be very sad and is overall emotional.

There was obviously a lot of effort put into this, and it really shows as it has given me the perfect viewing for this Christmas Day! May I wish you a merry Christmas as well!

SpikeVallentine responds:

Thank you for your appreciation and sharing your opinion.

It's nice to hear nice marks, not everyone feels the same.

Length doesn't mean anything. Brevity = A+.

It was good, but not great

I couldn't help but be reminded of the TTA series that I myself used to be featured in. While I am not saying this is a ripoff (as it couldn't be, it came out before) it was not one of the best I have ever seen. That isn't to say of course that what action it did have was pretty nice. I also appreciate the character designs even if they were perhaps not that creative. It doesn't help that I am not familiar with this series and can't really understand what is going on. I still have to recomend this for the creative fight scenes and character designs.

MaxR responds:

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback! Though I can't take credit for the character design, they're sprites from the game called Little Fighter 2.

Quite awesome indeed

I was very impressed at the varieties of characters used in this flash, especially with how well they were drawn. The best was probably the Tankmen talking about (bleep)s. It was especially funny to see the turtle from "Toss The Turtle" appear and get bloodied up again. My only complaint was that the guy from "Stick Slayer" was there, but there was no tribute at all to the late Ben Spurgin! Oh well, this had a really great concept going for it. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen such a wide variety of characters in a single flash.

Jazza responds:

thanks man. i know what u mean with ben and all, and as good as it would have been to have a better tribute to him, i didnt coz i waz working with that characters that would interact the best, and have a lot of personality.

I am one of the most prolific reviewers on this website and even on the Internet! I am proud to be such a huge fan of this website!
