Never heard

I have actually never heard of this "Black Jack" character before so I wish I was familiar with the manga. This was a pretty dark entry submitted for Valentine's Day. You could have used a background but I guess you don't need that. It's just so new to look at that it's hard for me to judge whether it's good or not. This may be the least of the art pieces you have made, but definitley not bad. I like how his appearance is a mashup of black and white (but really no gray).

I suggest you try putting some more action in your pictures like maybe having him fight. A still frame can be good, but it did not seem that detailed. I suppose his arms are being hid by the blackness of his coat. I like how his blue ribbon tries to give him a more innocent appearance. I think this should please other fans of "Black Jack".

Deserved its frontpage

This is a picture that's just great fun to look at because it makes fun of the Baman Piderman series. I am disapointed that more episodes were not uploaded on this website. I admit that it did get a bit annoying after all those episodes. This works well because the characters still look like they do in the cartoon but have serious expressions on their faces. The costumes are authentic and it's great to see someone make fun of something so silly. You would think I would be more familiar with the title joke.

It might not even be so much that they are drawn serious, as they are drawn more realistically. Luckily, it wasn't scary like those nightmarish Untoons series. This was a more realistic interpretation of the characters while still being a cartoon. I just noticed how their squiggly lines run opposite to each other. Love to see this in a cartoon.

Original?

When I first saw this, I thought it was a tribute to "Death Note". Granted, I haven't watched that or read the manga but I know much about it from the Internet. I now realize that this is about the endless cycle of life and birth as personified by these two characters. This is better than your first one because the shading seems a lot better. I guess it was made with digital effects instead of a marker. Omega appears to be holding something of a cross between a sword and a feather.

The person being created almost looks like some demon baby. I would love to see you put this creation and story into a cartoon. I also love how Omega's cloak appear to make use of the negative space to create shapes. Maybe that was not intentional, but still good. I like how Alpha takes on a far more normal human appearance.

Fairly funny

It's always nice to see comics being put on the art portal. BTW, this happens to be my first review of a webcomic that was also on the art portal. It reminds me of "VG Cats" but I guess I just always think of that with webcomics. The punchline was really good and it makes me think that pretty much every video game villian would act like that eventually. The artwork was also nice and it was especially funny to see the character's faces react to the situations. I never played this game, but I get every joke.

It helps that you just run into so many parodies on the Internet, I guess. It is interesting how you can tell a story in a single image or at least a single comic. I notice how Simon Belmont keeps the same pose showing how perplexed he is. I just now noticed that the name is "Portrait Of Futility". I did not understand where the POF came from at first.

Wonderfully done

I am so glad to be introduced to your art style, because this is some truly impressive artwork! The best part is that are simply so many things to look at in this single picture. The main image is the giant frog judging by the title. I suppose the lack of color was meant to emphasis that it was an eclipse. There were so many tiny objects in the background that you have to look closely. I can see some magnets and some objects that appear to have eyes, so it's hard to tell if they're objects.

I can make out a great staircase as well as a plate of spaghetti on top with legs. This is a great example of how a person can tell a story with a single image. It's as good as any great abstract cartoon sent here. Some of the planets appear to be falling down or maybe they're held up by wire. While completely incomprehensible, still flawless.

Butzbo responds:

Whoah, i'm just finding this review which is rather 'old' (hope we get some sort of "notification" with the redesign, coming, extremely soon!).
Well, glad you liked it, I've been still aiming for this kind of 'abstract' work lately so there's definitively more to come!

Nice and artsy

It is amazing how much of a story you can tell by using nothing but a single picture. "Evil Versus Evil" has been a theme in fiction for a long time. With no background story, it is hard to know that these two people are evil. In fact, neither of them seem to have particularly dark appearances, although the one on the left looks more heroic. It could have used color, but you can of course have great art without color. The details were very good, especially with the person on the left's abs.

Was this by chance done on textbook paper of some sort? I ask this because it seems as though there are some numbers and equations in the right hand corner. The sword seems to be breaking apart as it hits the other guy's face. It's also cool to see all of the little rocks that fly around. Not the best I've ever reviewed (well, I only reviewed one other), but great.

My first ever art review!

Here I am writing my first ever review for an art piece and I am very glad to have this be the first one I ever review! This is a great review and it's a wonderful way to start because it's simply so macabre! I have always been a fan of surrealism in any art form. Paintings (or pictures) is the first medium of which I really took note of it. I was thinking maybe you were trying to capture a specific emotion with this. Perhaps fear or insanity (is insanity an emotion?)?

What's truly awesome is that you have such a wide variety of colors used. I noticed that there's a happy face in the guy's mouth with Xs for eyes. It makes you realize you don't need a lot of computer effects to make an artpiece great. It's like he's tearing apart beauty as he seems to tear apart this rainbow. You should seriously put this up at an art show.

I am one of the most prolific reviewers on this website and even on the Internet! I am proud to be such a huge fan of this website!
