I am quite surprised that this does not have a higher rating. I love games where you create your own stuff. I think the main reason I'm so interested in this is because I just saw "The Lego Movie" yesterday. DANG, THAT IS GOOD! Anyway, I love the message of being creative. While some of it is off, I still love it.

You truly give us a wide variety of options. I like all the different shapes. Even seeing them laid out like that is impressive. The music and sounds were quite good too. You really can't go wrong with a customizable game like this.

thanks Ericho!

I'm heavily reminded of the Double Dragon games. I think that's the one, right? I will say that I was a little disappointed that you couldn't do more in this game. I still appreciate all the effort put into it. It could have used more detail. It was weird to have this one boss who you just kept on fighting over and over.

He certainly got hard on his second form. He was too fast even when I was standing right next to him. You always had to creep up to cause him damage. The main character reminds me of Chuck Norris. I guess any bearded badass would do that.

PestoForce responds:

Yeah, Dr. Karate vs. Chuck Norris would be a great showdown.

Wow, this was one of the most frustrating games I ever made. I'm saying this because no matter how far I got, I still couldn't get a single medal. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The setup and overall premise is great. I just can't get any medals! I'm really wishing there was one for going through the intro.

I just think it's all very creative. There are so many ways to experiment. I imagine there's more than one way to beat a level because some times I didn't have to use everything. It's a nice way of justifying extra lives. It just fits together well.

Unept responds:

You may have missed the levels that have the keys on them (obtaining the keys will get you the medals). Go to the level select screen, and you should see the key levels. Glad you like the game. :)

I'm starting to truly understand what you mean when you say you only get one. The notion of one blue cat is quite difficult in this. It doesn't help that the enemies are so much bigger. I did like, in the training part, how you slowly got it to be more like an actual game. It was good preparation. Even the simple medals are hard to find.

I couldn't even find that credits page. I think the music was fairly good. The graphics could have been better. This is why I'm not much of a sports fan, be it in games or real life (wait, real games, games, what?). People who are more into it should like it.

jacklehamster responds:

Yep, the game is as hard as the premise suggests it ;-D .I'm glad you enjoy the music, feel free to check the composer's site (link added in the Author's comment)

I really did like this game. It truly reminded me of the original. That being said, I still couldn't remember everything that happened there. I love how smoothly everything flows. It's great to see all these fine details. The sounds are great too.

I'm glad I didn't have to win that volleyball game at the beginning, because I'm no good at it. It's funny how the more violent stuff doesn't stand out that much with the cuteness factor. I wish those balloons could just keep making you go up. The music is quite whimsical as well. It's like a dark version of the BR series.

SeethingSwarm responds:

That's great! Thanks for the comments and the nice score! I'm glad you like the game and it's awesome to hear that everything flows smoothly and that you appreciate the little details. The cuteness factor is definitely there to balance out the creepy and weird storyline and the violence :P

Well, I guess this worked quite well as an experimental game. I really should be expecting these game jams more. What turned me off was how it was fairly short. Then again, it was also pretty hard. I really did have fun with it. I'm not quite sure what the true meaning is. Even the theme stated doesn't make much sense.

I thought he looked like a moose when he turned red. The other red guys looked more like demons. He definitely became something like him. I like going back, as it's so easy. I thought there would be more than one day. That is of course, the title of the game.

rottenmage responds:

Yeah, one of our programmer mentioned that it looked like a druid. We wanted the game to be a mundane day of the main character. We wanted to name the Day "Random Number" e.g. Day 235 but decided to settle with "Day X" in the end.

I just don't think this game is for me. The worst part is how you don't have much mobility. The way you throw the bombs is way off. I don't know why you're killed by some bombs and not others. Then again, maybe the D is for different kinds of bombs. After defeating an enemy, they still have a ghost or something that they left behind.

It's just too confusing. I guess it deserves points for creativity. I really have no idea what's truly going on. It's just not engaging enough to complete. It's quite unique at least. I just don't find it rewarding.

Floriaen responds:

You can't keep a bomb forever, there is a timer on the top left of the screen.
The bomb explodes with you while the end of the timer is reached.

I tried with S + arrow down instead of D but it was hard to play so I keep the D.

Thank you for your review.

[UPDATE] the timer is now showed on the top of the bomb carried by the RedMan

This was a decent game. It took me awhile to notice that my movements were synchronized with that of the enemies. It's still pretty hard to tell exactly how that works. For the most part, I can get used to it. It's nice to have a game where you can really go at your own pace. It may not be that rewarding, but still.

It helps that the music is quite ambitious. It's been too long since I've reviewed an audio submission. I think the overall design is pretty good. It moves pretty solidly. While not great, I'd recommend it.

keybol responds:

Sweet you discovered it yourself. One of the greatest feeling as a gamer, and that's why I preserved the tutorial as minimal as possible but if one wants more details they check out How To at the title screen

I didn't know there would be another game jam, but this seems quite appropriate. What I like most is how simple it is. That makes sense, seeing as how it was itself made in a short time. I like how soothing the music was. I had no luck trying to find the right person. I played a girl, so maybe that's why?

I don't really know what those yellow dots are supposed to mean. Are they children you accidentally give birth to? They disappear once you touch them. I guess you could say love literally hurts, or rather, a lack of it. Oh wait, I just realized you can also play as a boy.

keybol responds:

Great! That's one way I see it can be interpreted. Or the dots can be experiences you will treasure or learn from. The game has an ending, just hold left mouse for a long time, you'll notice it immediately.

I admit that the premise and execution is done pretty well. There are of course parts that are just too complicated to complete. It really does drag the fun out of it. Not to mention getting on par is really hard. At least I can do that in the early levels. The sounds and desgns are good.

I guess I can't recommend this game, but if you're really good at it, great for you. I like this crazy world you have created for the player. I wish I knew what "Pandesal" meant. It was nice to see this on the front page. It's quite well done, if very hard.

kikill responds:

Thank you for giving this exception Ericho to review a game one more time! I think you gave a fair opinion. But I grew up playing Mario and dreaming of one day making a similar world. So my first intention was to make something for platforming hardcores. Forty odd beta testers later, I realized I needed to soften the difficulty and did so with a lot of reluctance. In the end there is a limit to how easy I can allow the game to be. So it became what it is.

Thank you for appreciating the other aspects of the game. We did this with a lot of love. ^^

And btw, "Pandesal" is breakfast bread in our country. It's Spanish in origin I think, literally translated in English as "bread with salt".
