Where's the joke?

I was thinking there was a joke about SOPA in here, but I didn't understand it. I have seen parodies of Windows before and this is not one of the better ones. What really killed this was how the graphics and animation were not good. In fact, there didn't seem to be any moving parts at all. Everything there just said that it didn't work. I'm guessing it was supposed to be ironic or something. You could have just done better with the texts.

I also wish there was some sound or music as I didn't find any. I guess you don't need it for a Windows spoof, but it would have helped. It would have been nice if there had been a lot better colors too. There are just so many better games out there it's hard to like that much. I do wish I knew how to get the medals.

Hi, thanks for the review! But, I actually tried to get a NG Radio App, but I couldn't find one. :( But since you want to know how to get the achievements...

I am PMing you right this instant!

Quite fun!

I guess the main reason I enjoyed this was because there were a lot of medals. I also appreciated how the music was so nice. I wasn't sure that touching the other fish was going to cause you to die, but it was pretty evident it would. Another cool thing was how you were able to electricute the other fish. You have to get better, because with every bubble you get another dang fish pops up. My only complaint is that the fish here don't seem to be well designed.

Some of them look ugly. Then again, seeing as how they're fish that can hurt you, I guess it makes sense. The sound effects are good, especially the nice bubbling noises. I like how you have a lot of room to go out and explore (before the other fish come up, obviously). It's a fairly simple game, but a pleasurable one.

ZEGMAN responds:

Good points! And thanks for the review :)

Has its good and bad points

I think the weakest thing about this is how the graphics are not that good. I have played games like this and not really been interested because it was too bland. Now, this does have some good color effects, but that's really it. I wish you would have put more detail into the drawings so the finished product would look better. I don't really understand how it was supposed to be that appealing. I guess it was a good idea to have so many medals.

That music is a bit too overused on this site, I think. It just seems like there wasn't anything that original. It was just some blue block guy jumping around. I admit that the game wasn't too frustrating or anything, but you need a lot more to be appealing. The backgrounds should especially have more detail and there should be more emphasis on shading.

telinc1 responds:

1) I know this. That's why in my upcoming game, some of the graphics will be made in Photoshop. Thank you for telling me that!

2) I also know about the music. From now on, I use video game songs.

Hard to dislike

Well, thank you for creating the game that sets the record for easiest medal to get! Or should I say, the easiest way to get all the medal(s) in a game. It looks like all the games are starting with rewarding medals with that new screen thing popping up. It's a pretty cool effect. What was frustrating was how it was annoying with the first level being so easy and then on the second level you had to work so hard to get all the dang robots.

At least it's satisfying when you finally topple those buggers. I couldn't really understand the notion of using an "X" as the main thing. It was a fairly non-sequitor game. If this is in fact just a demo like the medal says, then I would be eager to play the final version of this game. I wish they would die easier when they get hit.

jomarcenter responds:

mostly we make the game a lot harder... we will added different gravity system, portals, etc... so the final version may be epic....
(with added weekly level updates)
and mostly the people who get this only medal for version 0.1 - 1.0...
so if the game reached version 1.1 you cannot get this medal anymore...
but we have plan to add more medal...
spoiler: used power-ups medal

I understand

Well, it's hard to say bad things about this, because it doesn't try to be anything more than what it is. It's really nice to see a game so simple. Granted, I probably wouldn't care for this at all if it didn't have any medals. I thought I was going to get a medal for having 100, but that's 125. What I find unbelievable is how anyone would be able to get 250 in anything other than hard. If someone did, you would probably have to invent a medal point with more than 100 points.

It's not really a collect game, I guess. This could have been better if you had added sound of some kind. Even if that might be annoying to people, you could always have a mute option. There could have also been some more colors used. I imagine more people would want to play and earn medals if you added more stuff.

Cogwirrel responds:

I've added music now, plus a mute button to keep people sane! Let me know what you think! :)

Good submission

As with all defense games, the good parts outweighed the bad. What I found was the weirdest was how you were not able to speed it up and it took too long. That's still pretty minor, because for the most part this was good. I really like how there are so many of these little goblin dudes just hopping around everywhere. I think the cannon blasts sound like farts when they land. This is fairly enjoyable, but not one of the best.

The most admirable part is probably how well everything is detailed. You get some very good clear colors in this. I also wish that you didn't automatically pause it when you got to another page. It's just that it takes awhile to get going. At least it does manage to do fairly well when it gets off its feet and trust me, it does.

Ironhidegames responds:

Hi Ericho, You can disable autopause from the options menu :D
Thanks for the review!

The postman!

I thought this was quite enjoyable because of how fun it was. Now, I will admit that the graphics didn't look too sharp in this. Then again, that could have been the point. It's really refreshing to play a game that uses such traditional artwork. While it is fairly dated, it's still nice to look at. I appreciate all the effort put into making this fun little game, although I'm not sure if the main person was supposed to be David Hasselhoff or not.

This website is known for making silly non sequitor stuff and this fit the bill pretty well. I like how you actually do have pretty good shading effects. I like how the shadows are cast. It's stuff like this that makes you dream of what it would be like to be an actual mod. I'm not much of an authority figure, so I probably wouldn't do well anyway.

JeffersonTD responds:

Thanks for the nice review! I'm glad you found the game fun!

That's also a very valid point that the main character could be anyone else as well. The reason for having David as the main character is actually the fact that this started as a small and silly inside joke, and there was a certain history with David there.

Naughty Dog?

It seemed like this game was taking too long to load. I should have realized that it wasn't going to be what I expected. Unless there was some glitch my computer experienced, this seemed to have no gameplay except for waiting for the loading screen. I was expecting an experience by Crash Bandicoot given that you mentioned Naughty Dog. I guess the music wasn't that bad, but it was just so lacking in every other category I could think of. It just went to that troll face at the end.

I guess this wasn't meant to be taken seriously, so I won't do that. I don't even recall the original game this was based on. The name does sound familiar. The text that is used isn't that bad, if that's even supposed to be a compliment at all. I guess it might be fine for a quick laugh, but if you're expecting something more serious, don't check into this.

Lare responds:

Hmm... People seem to think this review is useless...

Nice for what it is

I would probably enjoy this a lot more if I had some idea as to how to get ahead in it. The weirdest thing is that you don't have much control over your ship. It would help if you could get a clearer view of what's going on and where your ship will land. I will have to give you credit for creating some fairly good music to go with this. It's very ambitious sounding music and it makes you want to go on. I like how it brings a sweet tone to the overall game.

The graphics weren't bad, but I felt this could have been more detailed. At least this has a fairly fun appeal to it. I guess next time, you could make it so that you didn't have to start all the way from the beginning on the first level if you fail. The colors look fairly nice in this. It really looks like you had a fun time making this with its nice appeal.

AndyBrown responds:

Thank you for your critique, I've tried it with the trajectory lines always on, and it doesn't work out very well in motion. We are thinking about working on a sequel where you can pause the ships movement to aim your trajectory changing shot.. and offering the standard slingshot type of control like most of these games have as a default option and leaving in this skill click system as an optional gameplay mode. Also you can skip the tutorial in the first level, there is a skip button on the bottom left =)
